Hollywood neighborhood is in Northeast Portland in the Willamette River watershed. The I-84 Freeway makes up the southern border of the neighborhood. Hollywood was named after the historic Hollywood Theater built in 1926. Prior the establishment of the theater, the neighborhood was called “Hollyrood”, after region of Scotland. The area was platted in 1907, originally as part of Rose City Park. It was built up as part of a trolley car expansion along Sandy Blvd. Today, it is a popular retail and commercial hub, with some residential. Hollywood is a part of the Central Northeast Neighborhoods Coalition.
