The Hayden Island neighborhood is located in outer North Portland in the Columbia Slough Watershed. It is an island in the Columbia River between Vancouver, Washington and Portland. The east part of the island is made up primarily of a retail shopping center known as Jantzen Beach. Despite being primarily commercial, some of the neighborhood is residential, and it is also home to many boathouses docked along the shores of the Columbia. West Hayden island is not part of the City of Portland, but is within Multnomah County. This west half of the island is an designated Habitat Conservation Area, and also a regionally significant industrial land. Hayden Island is a part of the North Portland Neighborhood Services Coalition.
