South Portland neighborhood is located in Southwest Portland in the Willamette River watershed. The neighborhood is bounded to the east by the Willamette River, and the I-5 freeway runs through the center of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is a mix of commercial and residential, with commercial activity concentrated along SW Macadam Blvd. South Portland has several parks, including Butterfly Park, Elizabeth Caruthers Park, Willamette Park, and Heritage Tree Park, a park entirely dedicated to saving one historic oak tree. Other notable features include the campus of the National College of Natural Medicine, the OHSU Collaborative Life Sciences Building, the South Waterfront district, and the Zidell Yards. South Portland is a part of the Southwest Neighborhoods, Inc. Coalition.
